GPM Discharge Capacity

All water pumps are measured in GPM Discharge Capacity which tells you how quickly and powerfully the water is pumped through it. In simple terms, it’s the rate the water flows from the source to the discharge point in gallons per minute. If you need it for a job to move lots of water fast, then you need a pump with a higher GPM Discharge Capacity.

Vertical Suction Lift

This will tell you what the vertical distance is from the water source to the pump itself. If you are picking up a water pump for something like draining a pond or a flooded basement, this is important to bear in mind so you know the distance is enough to get it to the pump for discharge.

Maximum Head Lift

The Maximum Head Lift will let you know what the total height of the pump is from the water source to the discharge point. This figure tells you how powerful the pump is and what distance it can move water over for the job you’re needing it for.

Type of water pump

There are different types of water pumps, depending on the job you need it for. These include submersible pumps, water-boosting pumpsself-priming pumpsborehole pumps and many more. Research each type and make sure you get the right one for your needs.

Before you jump right in and buy a water pump, take the time to consider the above points and make sure you choose the best one for your individual needs. In doing this, you will get the best product that will be perfectly suited to what you require it for.
